What's The Skinny?

Semaglutide vs Tirzepatide

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide belong to a class of medications called glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs). It mimics the effects of a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1. GLP-1 plays a role in regulating blood sugar levels, appetite, and food intake. Together these things help you lose weight and feel better.

How Does it Work?

Semaglutide or Tirzepatide were initially approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It works by stimulating the release of insulin, reducing the production of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar levels), and slowing down gastric emptying, which can help control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Patients on Semaglutide or Tirzepatide were shown to have a significant weight loss. The significant weight loss seen in the diabetic patients has served as a catalyst for bringing these medications forward to help patients who suffer from being obese or overweight.

Weight Loss Effects?

Compounded Semaglutide or Tirzepatide helps with weight reduction by impacting your appetite (you feel fuller faster), delaying gastric emptying (you are eating less, and it stays with you longer), reducing cravings and regulating blood sugars. Individual results may vary. It is considered effective for promoting weight loss, but it is not a "magic pill" and should be used as part of a comprehensive weight management plan.
